“Sometimes you just need to be selfish and take care of you. If they love you, then they’ll understand.” – Robert Tew
While being selfish may give off a bad meaning, it could be good at times. How so? Being selfish means to take care of oneself, which is a good thing from time to time. It’s healthy to want to be alone, heal yourself, and indulge every once in a while, especially if you are very stressed or unwell.
By only focusing on yourself, you’ll be able to recover all the conflicts or sadness that you had been through, especially if it’s taken a toll on you. It’s a good idea to relax, and do the things you want to do to recover.
Afterwards you’ll feel better to tackle the conflicts that you might have or help other people too. Remember, you can’t help anyone if you can’t help yourself. Everyone needs time to themselves.
Your loved ones would know that rule too. If not, then distance yourself from them as they are a negative influence on you and your life. The ones who truly love and champion you as a friend would understand what you really need, and would give you the space you need to relax.
Don’t hesitate to take a breather, and give yourself a couple days or even a week. Your body and mind would be thanking you as you are loving yourself as much as the people around you.
