“Books are the plane, and the train and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” – Anna Quindlen

Before there was Google, there were books. Before the internet, the way to get information or increase your general knowledge was by reading. Be it magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, novels, articles, academic journals, and books, humans increased their knowledge by reading physical media.

There is not much better for a human to do than increasing their understanding of the world. Increasing your knowledge will give you a better understanding of people, nature, and maybe even life.

In general, we still read some form of physical media, but technology has integrated into society. A lot of us find our information from screens like television and computers.

Information can be as easy as typing in a search bar. This method stops the individual from finding/using more source materials the moment they find an answer. When you have to search via reading, you are not just gaining the information you are looking for but other knowledge that surrounds the answer.

The more you read, the more information you gain. Screens with their blue light can be hard on your eyes. So read everything. Don’t limit yourself to a single genre or author.

Start with a topic or genre you like and then branch out. Expand your mind with the information found in books. The more people that read and learn, the more people will begin to understand the world around them.
