Sometimes First is The Worst

We all have a dream job or a dream paycheck and most of us are willing to do anything to get it. But that doesn’t mean you have to compromise your other dreams; in particular: happiness, good health, family, time, resources, etc.

I believe the current state of society has placed a lot of emphasis on taking a job no matter what because you might not get the opportunity again, especially if you’re young and starting out. But you shouldn’t have to accept the first thing that comes your way.

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” – Steve Jobs

Have confidence in yourself that if you can get one job offer then you can get another one that is more to your wants and need. If you have a desired starting pay (that is reasonable for the work you would be doing), don’t settle.

If a job will be conflicting with other responsibilities that are important to you, don’t take it. Find a job that fits you. It is not worth taking a job that you will end up leaving a few months in because you’re not satisfied with it.
