Stretching, and Why We Need To Do It

⁣Everyone knows that exercise is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but what about stretching?

When you ask a random passerby about their exercise routine, you would most likely hear something along the lines of running or sports, and yet you don’t hear a single mention of stretching. Even those who don’t exercise much say that they don’t stretch. So why is this so important?⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Stretching benefits your body and can improve your posture; people who stretch experience less back pain and are more likely not to be hunched over throughout life. Stretching can also decrease the chances of injuring your body while exercising as it increases the wide range of motion to your bones.

In addition, stretching will also allow your bones to be more flexible and move more freely. This information is especially useful for individuals over 50. Should they stretch for the remainder of their lives, they would be able to move freely, even in their 80’s!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

By stretching every day, our bones and muscles can achieve the maximum movement that we can achieve throughout our lives. Best of all, it takes only a few minutes, which isn’t that much time, and can be completed anytime in our lives. So before you do any exercises or are stressed, get your yoga matt and stretch out your brain and body. You’ll feel refreshed to tackle the day!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
