For some of us, the workout and health “kick” doesn’t last long. Is it because of motivation, the expense, or is all the counting of calories too much? I believe that the real reason is that we get bored. Doing the same exercises in rotations get too repetitive that the mind wanders off to distractions, like life without exercising. So in order to keep exercising and promoting your health, boredom must be cured.
Let me introduce the interactive, fitness app/game developed by Six to Start: “Zombies, Run!” In this app, you are a part of an ongoing story set in a dystopian world overrun by zombies. You are Runner 5, a survivor that helps your township survive by running and collecting supplies in the ruins of civilization. In real life, you can run, skip, or walk whatever route you want while listening to the story through your headphones intermittently dispersed between music or another medium playing on your device. The app also has training plans for 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon runs. But it isn’t all about collecting supplies; you will undoubtedly run into hordes of zombies and you will have to increase your pace in the real world if you want to survive in the game. ⠀
Now if you were never a runner, and don’t plan on being one anytime soon, then have no fear! Listen while you clean your room, while you lift weights, bake a cake, water the garden. The app supports all levels of active moving, including none at all. Be entranced by the story that’s eight seasons in. It’s as if you were watching (or listening to) a zombie tv show, but the catch is, you’re a main character in the show. Have some fun diving deeper into the mystery of how the zombie apocalypse came to be, and hopefully finding a cure. This app can be found for both iOS and Android.
